du invites UAE writers to spin a special Ramadan tale and inspire others

Initiates short-story contest, giving writers the opportunity

to share inspirational stories and be published

du is encouraging UAE residents to reach out and bring joy to others by entering a special short story (hekayat) writing contest during the Holy Month of Ramadan. Stories that explore various noble experiences and values – including peace, selflessness, nobility, generosity and compassion – are welcome. du will review all content and publish the best submissions online at www.du.ae/hekayat. The website is divided into three main sections – ‘write stories’, ‘read stories’ and ‘greeting cards’. Visitors to the website can read the stories and vote for their favourite one, Writers whose stories receive the highest number of votes will have the chance to see their words in print as part of a future booklet of stories published by du. The short story contest will run during Ramadan.

“Our hekayat contest offers UAE residents the opportunity to celebrate the Holy Month by sharing heartfelt stories that capture the essence of Ramadan,” said Hala Badri, EVP Brand and Communications, du. “Readers across the region and beyond will be delighted and inspired by these stories. As a UAE-based telecom company, we are focused on providing innovative and creative ways to communicate; we are pleased to provide this unique chance for UAE residents to reach out to one another with meaningful words and messages of hope this Ramadan.”

To enter the story writing contest, participants can visit and submit a story together with their contact details; if du selects an entry for online publication, the writer will be notified via email. Participants who have had their stories published online will have the option to email a link to their friends in order to gather votes. All website visitors will have an opportunity to read and vote for stories that have been accepted for online publication, enjoy traditional stories, and forward links to their favourite stories to friends.
