Local DJ Dion Mavath, who signed a first-of-its-kind recording contract for a local artist with global music giant Sony Music International, was chosen by superstar Christina Aguilera for her latest remix. The Dubai based spinning sensation is also seeing his success grow worldwide as tracks from his "Warrior" album are scoring high on international charts. As part of his contract, Dion is supported by Sony in all matters relating to marketing, distribution and publicity on a worldwide scale.

"There is no one better than Dion in Dubai when it comes to putting a dance spin on a pop blockbuster. It is a testament to Dion's undeniable talent and a glimpse into the futures success he is poised to achieve as well as highlighting the growing talent of producers in the middle east region," Craig Pereira, Director Marketing, Sony Music Middle East.

As of September 1 2010, "Wait so long" is number 1 and "Refugee" number 9 on U.S. dance radio station NRN. The "Refugee" track has also gained acclaim on other international charts falling second on the Media2Radio International charts, 18th on the Eurodance charts, 26th on the French National Radio Charts (FUN Radio) and is one of the most played songs in Europe. A bootleg track "I am so many times", created by Dion Mavath using his new track "I Am" and the vocals from Gadjo's classic "So Many Times", is 18th on the BOMB radio charts in Italy and Spain.

Speaking of his success, Dion said, "With the support of Sony Music International and Sony Music Middle East I am cementing and growing my footing in the international music industry. I am proud of my recent success as I feel that I also represent Dubai on an international level. Dubai has long had a rich music and nightlife scene and now the world is getting a taste of it."

"Dion Mavath's success comes as no surprise to me. I have always been amazed by his talent, cool-headedness and professionalism and believe that Sony Music International has done a great job of developing this promising star's music and image on a worldwide scale. The world is now beginning to enjoy our locally bread talent and there is more to come," said Thomas Martenot, Chief of Projects, A&R, Sony Music International.

Dion is the first Dubai based artist to be signed to a major international recording company for worldwide exposure. His debut album, "Warrior", reached the top 10 album sales within its first week of release with the track "Keep on loving me" being signed to the world's biggest House music label while "Defected" and his second single "Wait So Long", out on S2G Records, hit number 11 on the Beatport Charts. Dion turned Dubai into a global DJ and clubbing destination and is credited with establishing the house music scene that is so prevalent today.
