Dubai Chamber of Commerce & Industry has recently launched the 19th version of Dubai Commercial Directory 2007-2008 which became a basic reference for businessmen, traders, exporters and entrepreneurs, not only in the UAE, but also on the regional and global levels.
Nuha Mohammed Safar, Director of Marketing and Communication Department at Dubai Chamber, said the new version of Dubai Commercial Directory provides information about all the companies operating in Dubai and registered at Dubai Chamber, in addition to the latest updates on the economic sectors in the UAE, Dubai in particular, which highly benefit the Chamber’s members and Dubai business community.
“The number of companies listed in this new version of the directory has increased by 12,000 companies compared to last year. This reflects the vitality and growth of Dubai’s economy, and underlines the success of Dubai Chamber in introducing the Dubai Commercial Directory as the most comprehensive source of information, and essential reference for local and foreign businesses wishing to establish new contacts with other businesses to promote its services and products,” said Safar.
She pointed out that the launching of the new directory copes with the remarkable increase in the number of the Chamber’s members which reached over 100,000. The new directory provides enough information about more than 75,000 companies operating in Dubai and registered at the Chamber.
The director of Marketing and Communication Department noted that the new directory was the result of the Chamber’s effort in coping with the latest economic changes and the non-stop work to provide and upgrade new services to its members and the business community.
“The trade sector in Dubai is a driving force to the overall development in the UAE, and one of the largest and fast growing non-oil sectors in the country. The development of Dubai’s infrastructure has created an ideal climate for individual investments, providing the commercial sector with various facilities and incentives to practice all sorts of commerce. The new directory became one of the most important tools for promoting the growing trade sector,” Safar explained.
The new Dubai Commercial Directory has two kinds of listings: names of companies, and businesses according to its activities, all listed in alphabetical order. The first section includes the names, telephone and fax numbers and emails of the companies registered at Dubai Chamber and those operating in Dubai’s free zones, whereas the second part of the directory classified companies according to its business activities.
The directory also contains a comprehensive overview of the UAE’s economy, Dubai’s economy and trade activities, infrastructure, free zones, social services, procedures for licensing enterprises, future projects, and a brief description of services provided by Dubai Chamber.
“The new directory prepared by Dubai Chamber and the annual networking meetings it arranges provide an important opportunity for thousands of businessmen to meet their counterparts inside and outside the UAE. It also underlines a good chance for the companies operating in Dubai to introduce themselves and promote their services and products,” said Safar.
She praised the efforts done by Al Ghurair Printing and Publishing House for supervising the publication of the Dubai Commercial Directory 2007-2008, and the company’s keen interest in presenting the new directory with high quality printing features and spelling accuracy of the names and addresses of companies, and its related information according to the alphabetical order.
The Chamber will also distribute free copies of the directory to embassies, consulates and trade centers, in addition to business councils in Dubai, local and federal government establishments, universities, welfare and social associations, cultural and sports clubs, major hotels and commercial missions and delegations.
