dubai clubbers at the global gathering 2007
Virgin Megastore sent 200 Dubai clubbers to
the party of their lifetime in England!
200 winners of the joint promotion initiated earlier this year by Virgin Megastore, Daxar Multimedia Limited and Ford were flown to the UK aboard Virgin Atlantic to share in the festivities of the world’s largest clubbing event. With the participation of the world’s finest DJ talents, Global Gathering 2007 took place on Friday and Saturday, 27 and 28 July, at Long Marston Airfield, near Stratford-upon-Avon, Warwickshire, United Kingdom.
Highlights of the festival included phenomenal performances by Faithless, Basement Jaxx and Paul van Dyk, and over 100 other renowned DJs who rocked out hardcore clubbers in attendance from all around the globe.
Challenging the bad weather conditions that preceded the event, Dubai’s promotion winners blended into a huge crowd of 30,000 people on the two-night festival camping site, equipped with their tents, sleeping bags, and deck chairs. Campers were joined on Saturday by a further 25,000 clubbers who took up the dancing fever to optimum levels throughout Saturday night, contributing to a record breaking 55,000 revellers in total.
Attractions around the numerous stages and tents included a cluster of shops and stalls under the “Global Village” flag, bunjie jumping and freefall stimulators, tranquil resting areas, an entire fairground with various rides, hot air balloon rides and open air cinema. In addition, remarkable aerial aerobatics entertained crowds as the Red Arrows performed amazing stunts concluding with an enormous love heart drawn with red tail smoke, hanging in the sky above the festival.
Virgin Megastore’s special promotion was designed in conjunction with Daxar Multimedia Limited, the innovative music distribution company and a sister company to Virgin Megastore. Daxar has provided the Middle East with music long considered inaccessible in the region and has exclusively introduced many independent chill-out, lounge, electronica, world and dance music labels, such as Global Underground, Renaissance, Defected Records, Subliminal Records, Fabric London, Global Underground & Black Hole among many others to an expanding base of clubbers and DJ music enthusiasts.
The promotion was also supported by Ford International, Al Tayer Motors and Premier Motors (Distributors of Ford’s automobiles in the UAE) who found in it a great opportunity to introduce new Ford models that appeal to the young and trendy crowd in the UAE.
