Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, the crown prince of Duba and the UAE's defense minister, received Tuesday the newly appointed US Ambassador Marcelle Wahba.

Sheikh Mohammed discussed with the American ambassador the latest political issues and developments in the region, especially since the attacks which hit US on September 11.

The crown prince exchanged views with the diplomat on strengthening bilateral relations, the Dubai-based Al Bayan newspaper said.

Also on Tuesday, Sheikh Mohammed received the executive head and chairman of the board of IDS, Dick Brown.

According to the official UAE news agency, they exchanged views on the future of scientific, economic and commercial developments in light of the advances in internet programs and technology.

Brown expressed IDS’ satisfaction at opening its regional center at Dubai Internet City (DIC), saying that this had enhanced the company’s position in the Middle East and Gulf regions, said the agency.

He described Dubai as an oasis of security for all who lived there, whether citizens or expatriates.

Sheikh Mohammed welcomed people to the UAE, confirming that the country offered all the ingredients for security and success to investors and businessmen.

He reaffirmed that the UAE had not been affected by recent political developments in the rest of the world – Albawaba.com
