Dubai Customs’ IT Department completed updating the database for Mirsal system based on the most recent editions of Microsoft’s SQL 2008 for database management.
During an event that was held at the Department’s Dome Hall to celebrate the achievement, Mr. Juma Al Ghaith, Executive Director of Customs Development Division, commended the efforts of the team who worked on the project. Special thanks were given to Mr. Yonis Mohammed Othman, IT Senior Manager at Dubai Customs, and Ms. Majida Ubaid, IT Operations Section Manager, who is also the project’s founder.
Mr. Al Ghaith also expressed his appreciation to the IT Section at DP World and Microsoft Company for their kind cooperation with Dubai Customs and their help with the execution process. This hi-tech IT project provides a comprehensive platform for handling various solutions in the field of customs operations, customer relations management and customs clearance procedures.
Mr. Al Juma said that Mirsal system is considered a successful tool for accomplishing the Department’s strategic goals of utilizing the best of both the human and technological resources. He pointed out that the system is aimed at enhancing the proficiency of the Customs declaration systems, maximizing its potential, accelerating procedures and saving time. It therefore provides more facilitation to the clients and increases their satisfaction which eventually boosts the Department’s productivity.
Microsoft has commended Dubai Customs’ developed IT business as well as its employees’ competencies. Citing itself as a strategic partner to the Department, the IT giant considered its cooperation with the project’s team at Dubai Customs to be very fruitful. It also stressed that updating Mirsal system’s database plays a major role in taking its business to the next level.
Moreover, the company stated that Dubai Customs is considered among the first government organizations to implement SQL 2008, which is a highly advanced system for managing database.
