Dubai Customs confiscates several attempts to smuggle Heroin through Dubai Airport

Dubai Customs has succeeded recently in confiscating several attempts to smuggle drugs into the country through Dubai International Airport. What was unusual in these attempts is swallowing drugs placed in special plastic capsules, as a number of smugglers had imagined they could make it to the country, before their hopes faded away by Dubai Customs inspectors’ efforts.

On March 26th and 29th, Dubai Customs inspectors at Terminal 1 in Dubai Airport were able to seize two attempts to smuggle heroin drug of an amount of 1.25 kg was hidden in capsules swallowed by two Asian travelers were coming to Dubai on two flights in the dates abovementioned.

Customs inspectors suspected a passenger due to his suspicious behavior; so he was exposed to the intestines detector machine “SORTER RS” to identify the presence of strange objects in his intestines. The suspicious was then forwarded to the airport’s narcotics office. After follow-up investigation it was found that there were 50 plastic capsules containing heroin weighing 623 grams! Three days later, and also in Terminal 1, customs inspectors suspected another Asian traveler, who was lastly indicated to hold 28 capsules containing 605.9 grams of heroin.

Bigger success took place again, but in Terminal 2 this time, where inspectors were able on March 28 to stop an attempt to smuggle heroin through the same way of using plastic capsules. Although the smuggler succeeded in swallowing 1.36 kilograms of heroin in 54 capsules, he failed in delivering them to their final destination, thanks to the efforts of Dubai Customs inspectors.
