Dubai government departments participating in the sixth annual Careers UAE 2006 Exhibition through a common platform provided by Dubai eGovernment for the first time, have praised the initiative as an effective, convenient, cost and time saving measure that allows job-seeking UAE Nationals to meet prospective employers, apply for jobs and avail of career advice at a single place.
Salem Al Shair, Director eServices, Dubai eGovernment said: “We are delighted with the enthusiastic response and participation from government departments. This has enabled them to publicise their role and at the same time, made it easy for job-seekers to search for vacancies in various government departments from a central location, thus facilitating the government’s efforts to achieve targets for Emiratisation.”
Lauding the initiative, Maher Butti Al Suwaidi, Head of Investment Section, Dubai Police said: “We shared ideas, experiences and resources and were able to avail of Dubai eGovernment’s organisational expertise at such events.” Yousuf Ali Abdulla Behzad, Director HR, Strategy & Planning, Dubai Airport Free Zone Authority said: “The forum was a great opportunity for us to pool together all the applications and information received from job-seekers
Fatema Salem Juma Salem, Deputy Manager at the Administration and Finance Department in the Financial Audit Department felt the single platform was a great idea allowing lesser known departments, particularly those participating in the Fair for the first time, to capitalise on and identify with the popular Dubai eGovernment brand.
“Publicising our job-generating efforts through a singular platform helps to convey a positive image of government departments working together to secure the interest of UAE Nationals. This also opens good opportunities to build strong relationship with other government departments which may lead to sharing good candidates,” observed Mariam Saeed Almansoori, Employees Services In-charge, Dubai Development Board.
Abdelaziz Mohd Al Ali, Systems Administrator at the Dubai Civil Defence which participated in Careers UAE 2006 for the first time, said the Dubai eGovernment platform made it easier for departments to coordinate their efforts in generating awareness of job vacancies, personnel needs and in recruiting candidates and made it easier for the jobseekers to get exposed to different vacancies.
Similarly, Wedad Abdulla Bu Hannad, Director of Administration at the Dubai Public Prosecution Department felt “It’s a good chance to attract the best candidates and to meet HR managers from other government departments and share best practices.’ .
Appreciating the new concept, Hassan Abdullah Al Ali, Assistant Personnel Manager, Dubai Courts said the coming together of various agencies helps to strengthen the relationship between government departments, and leads to a healthier environment, while Amaar Ali Bin Tamim, Director of Administration & Marketing, Dubai Transport found the Dubai eGovernment stand well organised and efficiently managed and the decision to have the government departments at one stand was very helpful for the jobseekers and employers.
Careers UAE 2006 was inaugurated by H.H Sheikh Mohammed Bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai, and was held under the patronage of H.H. Sheikh Hamdan Bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Deputy Ruler of Dubai, UAE Minister of Finance and Industry and the Chairman of Dubai World Trade Centre. The three-day Career Fair that ended on April 25 at the Dubai International Exhibition Centre saw the participation of 125 public and private sector companies and was organised by Dubai World Trade Centre in coordination with Tanmia, Higher Colleges of Technology, Zayed University and UAE University.
