The Dubai Export Development Corporation (DEDC) has appointed Australian project management and human resource specialists, EFI International, to draw up its strategic management and operational blue-print.
EFI International is developing the organisational structure, operating framework and strategic direction, as well as defining the programmes and services to be offered by the DEDC.
“With the appointment of EFI International as our strategic business consultants, we are ensuring the DEDC operates on policies and procedures formulated using global expertise and best- practise,” said Eng. Saed Al Awadhi, CEO, DEDC.
“EFI International has relevant experience and a deep understanding of the Middle East market through its involvement in several government projects within the UAE and the region.”
EFI International will implement a multi-phase programme to develop a five-year business plan for DEDC, as well as an e-trade solution, website and database. It will also suggest facilities and incentives to be offered to exporters.
“The first phase of the project will be organisational focussed and will include defining DEDC’s operational structure and human resource needs,” said EFI International’s Director of Projects, Colin Johansen.
“We will also create an interactive portal for the DEDC where exporters and traders can easily obtain and exchange information on sourcing international quality goods and services from Dubai.
“In the next phase we will stage a series of educational seminars and workshops to help manufacturers and traders develop their knowledge of export procedures and requirements,” added Johansen.
A team of eight Australian experts from EFI International will work closely with the top management of the DEDC at its offices to implement the plan.
“The team, supported by our offices in Dubai and Australia, will also advise the DEDC on corporate governance, training and research issues as well as the overall strategy to increase non-oil exports from the Emirate,” said Angela Maglieri, General Manager, EFI International.
