Dubai Festival City, the world-class waterfront lifestyle resort and one of the region’s most exciting retail, dining and leisure destinations, reinforces its smoke-free policy to eliminate cigarette smoke polluting its premises. This positive action endorses Dubai Government’s initiative to launch a UAE-wide smoke free environment from September 15, 2007.

Festival Waterfront Centre, which opened in March 2007, was the first to implement the smoke-free environment for its guests to enjoy clean air while shopping at the centre. This implementation has received very positive feedback from guests providing valuable evidence that they want to play a part in creating a smoke-free environment.

“We are pleased and applaud Dubai’s Government for its leadership in this important public health issue.” said Tom Miles, Senior General Manager Retail, Dubai Festival City. “We all know the effects of smoking and the decision to adopt a smoke-free policy since the opening of our shopping centre should be a model for other public places in the Emirates.”

No-smoking signage will be placed at prominent areas throughout Dubai Festival City. Trained employees will advise smokers about the smoke free policy and direct them to designated smoking areas available in selected restaurants, along the Canal Walk and outside the centre’s premises.
