Dubai will host an Arab Media Summit which will bring together regional media personalities and top decision-makers in the emirate on Saturday to discuss the future of the industry, reported the Gulf News on Thursday.

More than 150 professionals and government representatives spanning the Arab world are expected to attend the exclusive invitation-only event.

The one-day summit will be the largest gathering of media professionals ever held in the region.

Mohammed Al Gergawi, chairman of the organizing committee of the Arab Media Summit, said "we felt that this summit would be a fitting way to end the inaugural Arab Journalism Awards because we will have gathered more than 150 media professionals together in one place, giving them the opportunity to discuss the issues and challenges which face the media in the Arab world."

Discussions will center on the future of Arab state-owned media, online broadcasting through the Internet, the Palestinian Intifada and the Arab media, the role of Arab journalism federations in promoting freedom of the press and the protection of journalists, and the future of talk shows – Albawaba.com
