dubai hosts four-nation lg electronics culinary challenge
UAE and South Africa take top honours in team and individual categories
The LG SolarDOM Regional Cooking Competition saw a close finish on Sunday evening as culinary champions from four countries competed to take the crown.
The finals of this year’s LG Regional SolarDOM Cooking Competition took place in Dubai’s Al Murooj Rotana Hotel. The four-month-old hunt for the cooking champions concluded as over 20 finalists from the UAE, KSA, Iran and South Africa rounds engaged their skills in creating the best culinary masterpieces during a two-hour session. The event was hosted by Infinity TV’s celebrity chefs Wadie and Taleen, who encouraged the finalists in their quest for the top spot.
After a grueling competition, Judith Makhubele from South Africa won the first prize in the individual round for her exotic preparation of chicken breast rolls, while Sheereen Shawkat from Saudi Arabia and Sanaz Salemi from Iran emerged as first and second runners-up respectively. Judges awarded Noura Falsi and Laila Rehman from the UAE took first place in the team category with their mouth-watering seafood delicacy, while Maryam Eftekhari and Fereshteh Asadi from Iran came in second place.
The next-generation LG SolarDOM hybrid microwave oven is the world’s first counter-top light-wave oven to combine both microwave and conventional oven technologies. The oven outsmarts conventional cooking appliances in terms of design as well; an acknowledgment confirmed by the iF Design Award, one of the world's most pre-eminent design achievements. Furthermore, the internal Round Cavity of the oven, which is free of edges and corners, makes it easier to clean then the conventional-type ovens.
“This competition served to highlight the unique attributes that the SolarDOM oven possesses, most prominently; healthy cooking in a short time with tasty end results. The general trend right now is geared towards a more health-conscious nutritional attitude. And it is our role as one of the leading manufacturers of kitchen appliances to ensure that our customers are well-equipped in terms of products to lead the healthy life that they seek. I would like to take this opportunity to congratulate the winners. And hopefully, in the years to come, Jordanian chefs will participate in this annual region-wide competition,” said Mr. Kevin Cha, General Manager of LGE’s branch office in Jordan.
Judges selected winners on the basis of cooking style and presentation. LG also generously offered a host of exciting prizes to both participants as well as spectators. In the Team category, winners received US$ 3,000 in cash while runners-up received US$ 2,000. Individual category winners got US$ 2,000, first runner-up US$ 1,000 and the second runner-up US$ 500.
It is worth mentioning that LGE SolarDOM hybrid oven is available at Darwish Al Khalili and Sons Showrooms across the Kingdom.
