Dubai International Rally to zoom through Emaar Boulevard

Dubai International Rally will start and end amidst Downtown Burj Dubai, the world’s most prestigious square kilometre, according to the Chairman of the Organizing Committee Mohammed Ben Sulayem, President of the Automobile and Touring Club of the UAE (ATCUAE).
 
Sulayem, who is also FIA Vice President, also confirmed Emaar Properties as the principal sponsor of the rally.
 
“Emaar’s association with the Dubai International Rally opens up a new chapter in the country’s motorsport history. The international drivers and guests will witness the action on Emaar Boulevard, the nerve centre of Downtown Burj Dubai,” said Sulayem.
 
Ahmad Al Matrooshi, Managing Director – UAE, Emaar Properties said: “The 3.5 km long Emaar Boulevard is a testament to downtown urban culture. Downtown Burj Dubai offers a lifestyle destination set in a distinct mix of traditional and modern architecture in the heart of Dubai.
 
Sulayem added: “With top regional drivers competing for the title, the event will attract people and communities from across the globe. As the only FIA-authorised organisation in the UAE, we harness the support given to us by local organisations and departments.
 
“In addition to Emaar, we have already secured support on infrastructure and services from key government organisations that manage the pulse of the growing city of Dubai. Dubai Police and Dubai Municipality, Road and Transport Authority, Ministry of Youth among others, will offer round-the-clock services to the rally and ensure that infrastructure and ground safety and security is managed in a seamless way,” Sulayem pointed out.
 
“Department of Civil Defence, Emergency Services and Ports and Customs department have also partnered with the organisers to offer flawless services for the event, both on the ground and for operational support to the ATCUAE.
 
“We are in talks with Etisalat, the national telecom provider, to offer network support throughout the rally route to ensure that communications and telecom support is always available for the organisers and participants en-route,” highlighted Sulayem.
 
“The ATCUAE has around 140 events which now make up the UAE motor sport calendar covering disciplines such as all forms of circuit racing, rallying, drag racing and motocross. Our sponsors and supporters are key to our success,” he concluded.
 
The 2009 Dubai International Rally, the 31st edition of the event, has garnered support from Emaar, The Address, Emarat, Oasis and Explorer. The government support for the event comes from Dubai Ports & Dubai Customs, Dubai Police, Immigration, Road and Transport Authority, Ministry of Civil Defense. Ministry of Youth and Culture and Social Development also support the rally.
