Dubai Internet City, the region’s largest managed ICT cluster and a member of TECOM Investments, today announced its support for the fifth edition of DemoCamp Dubai, the concept conference that aims to spark and open up creative communities for tech entrepreneurs, students, professionals and engineers .
To be held on March 8th, DemoCamp Dubai 2010 will bring together technology innovators in the region to share their latest developments and at the same time, give them an opportunity to obtain valuable feedback from their likeminded audience who may be venture capitalists and angel investors.
Already a success in a number of countries across the world including UAE, Saudi Arabia, Egypt and Canada, Dubai Internet City will host DemoCamp Dubai for the first time in the region.
Applicants for the 2010 edition will be screened by a panel of industry experts, including the organizers and business partners of DIC. Shortlisted applicants will be required to demonstrate their product and highlight its market opportunity, stage of corporate development, and identify the competitors. It will also be important that demonstrations are able to convey working software, hardware, network services and so forth.
Malek Al Malek, Executive Director, Dubai Internet City, said: “The concept behind DemoCamp Dubai is to provide passionate developers and entrepreneurs in the region a chance to come together and demonstrate some of the most impressive technological inventions with a strong business case. The informal style conference aims to inspire, educate and challenge both participants and venture capitalists looking for talent and can help expand existing business opportunities.
“The year 2010 is going to be one of investing in new technologies and products for Dubai Internet City, all of which will make a positive impact on the lives of people in the region. We look forward to seeing more startups and entrepreneurs go up on stage at DemoCamp this year and highlight the new market opportunities they have to offer.”
Previous DemoCamps in Dubai showcased remarkable startup entrepreneurs including Essam Alzamel, Co-founder of Kammelna.com, an online gaming website service provider..
He said: “DemoCamp Dubai offers a great opportunity to feature products that are still in their Beta stage. During the previous events, the feedback we received from the audience helped us further fine-tune the product before its launch.”
The event also gives the audience a chance to feel inspired and get prepared for their own demonstrations at the next DemoCamp Dubai to take place later on the year.
