Tenants of DIP to be involved in wide range of sporting activities including cricket, soccer, basketball, tennis and bowling over the next two weeks
The first-ever Dubai Investments Park Inter-Company Olympiad 2006 began on Sunday, May 21, 2006, with over 150 staff members from various tenant companies within Dubai Investments Park (DIP) taking part in indoor soccer, bowling and billiards. Organized by YalaSports, a leading sports event management company, the Olympiad is being held at the Bel Remaitha Club, Insportz & Jebel Ali Gulf Resort in Dubai.
Tenants from Dubai Investments Park are fielding teams to compete in 10 events including indoor soccer, indoor cricket, basketball, volleyball, tennis, squash, table tennis, badminton, bowling and billiards. Aimed at promoting friendly inter-company competition and encourage healthy lifestyles among staff, the Olympiad is hailed as Dubai’s first event of its kind organized on such a large scale.
Omar Sultan Al Mesmar, General Manager, Dubai Investments Park, said, “The emergence of Dubai Investments Park as a premier business hub in the UAE has meant that each year there is a significant addition to the number of tenants in the Park. We felt that it is essential to provide a platform where all tenants have an opportunity to come together and involve in activities that create a friendly environment, and what can be a greater unifier than sports.”
“This Olympiad not only gives a chance for employees from our tenant companies to display their sporting skills, it also helps to hone values of team work and cooperation. Moreover, it reinforces the importance of involving ourselves in activities that contribute towards a healthy lifestyle, as most sports help in relieving stress, while also making certain of much-needed exercise for the body,” he added.
The Dubai Investments Park Inter-Company Olympiad 2006 will conclude on June 4th, where winners will be presented with medals and trophies at a grand closing ceremony. YalaSports plans to make this an annual event.
