Dubai Modern High School students participate in outreach programmes in India

Twenty-six students from Dubai Modern High School participated in outreach programmes to rural areas of India, where they interacted with the local community. They also spent time with underprivileged children demonstrating their support and understanding.

As part of the trip, the students attended a Youth Empowerment programme at the Art of Living International Centre in Bangalore, India. The ‘Art of Living’, as taught by the internationally renowned institute, is all about leading a normal and enjoyable life, amidst all the tensions and stresses that overwhelm today’s society. During the course of the one-week programme, the students learned how to face life with a positive attitude through relaxation techniques like meditation, yoga and a healthy lifestyle.

Menaka Ramakrishnan, one of the participants, said “I am proud to have participated in the outreach programmes to interact with my counterparts in India. I had also heard of ‘Art of Living’ before but I never thought it would be such an intense experience. I look at life differently now, I am grateful for what I have and I hope to put my skills and talents to full use to achieve more in life and contribute to society in a meaningful way.”
