The IT Department of Dubai Municipality has announced its plans to implement an advanced requirements management tool to ensure quality in all projects undertaken by the Municipality by effectively managing and meeting specific requirements of customers. The requirements management tool will increase the quality of business process improvement initiatives and software development.
Requirements management tool will help in optimising communication, collaboration and verification, seamlessly across the enterprise, while also controlling project scope. The tool will reduce the lifecycle time for requests management, increase the productivity of the planning unit in terms of number of requests handled, while also enhancing the quality of services rendered by the planning unit.
Yousif Shams, Head of Systems Development & Support Section, IT Department, Dubai Municipality, said, “Addressing customer requirements efficiently and ensuring maximum customer satisfaction has been at the core of our objectives, driving us to constantly adopt the latest technologies and software innovations. Requirements management tool ensures that the service, software or system we develop and deliver fully meets our customer needs, on time and within budget.”
“This requirements management tool guarantees that all stakeholders have access to the common business objectives that drive our organisation and the customer needs that define our development projects. This tool will be a comprehensive support for recording, structuring, managing and analysing requirements and their traceability,” he added.
Requirements management tool promotes quality through its traceability feature, which concerns the linking of related information. Through traceability, requirements management simplifies the impact assessment of changes to objectives and needs. It also validates the implementation of low-level technical specifications by demonstrating how they satisfy higher-level requirements.
Another important benefit of the requirements management tool is that it helps managers track the status of their projects by monitoring the progress of work being done to meet the requirements. Working from a single set of requirements significantly improves the chances of successfully completing an IT project and delivering results.
