Dubai Police identified 11 people suspected of involvement in last month's killing of a prominent Hamas leader Mahmoud al Mabhouh in Dubai. Al Mabhouh was found dead in his room at the Al Bustan Rotana on January 20, less than a day after arriving in the UAE.
Lt Gen Dahi Khalfan Tamim, the Dubai police chief, told a press conference Monday night that six of the suspects came from the United Kingdom, three - including one woman - were from Ireland and one each were from Germany and France.
Two Palestinian nationals, both UAE residents, are also in Dubai Police's custody, the National reported.
The 11 suspects stayed in various hotels across the city, Tamim said. Footage of the men moving around the hotel was shown to reporters. None of the suspects used phones while in the UAE and instead communicated by coded message.
Al Mabhouh had been tracked by the group since his arrival in the UAE, Tamim said. One of the group posed as a hotel employee to alert others should anyone threaten to interrupt the murder taking place.
