Order has been restored at the Central Prison after policemen and inmates clashed briefly last week, said a senior Dubai police official, according to Gulf News.
Brig. Sharafuddin Hussain, Assistant Commander of Dubai Police for Criminal Investigation Affairs, told the paper that, "Order and peace were restored after a number of inmates assaulted a guard while he was on duty making a routine count."
The inmates took him hostage with the aim of creating chaos. In the course of the incident, two policemen and four inmates had been wounded.
"Dubai Prosecution is investigating the incident," Brig. Hussain added. (Albawaba.com)
