Over 200 people enjoyed the traditional Ramadan night of Egypt which was organized at the Dubai Press Club on Thursday, with colors, sights, sounds and costumes that thrilled the audience with the beautiful Egyptian ambience.

The evening began with a traditional Fawanees song, presented by children dressed in traditional costumes and carrying Ramadan lanterns, Khaleej Times reported.

Egyptian singer resident in Dubai Ahmad Hejazi enthralled the visitors with some traditional models seen on stage by young girls and boys dressed in ancient Egyptian costumes to adorn the night.

The popular song “Ana Masri” was performed by children from the Egyptian community in the UAE. Abdul Aziz Dawood, Egyptian Consul General for Dubai and the Northern Emirates, told the Dubai-based paper.

"We showed our immediate willingness to participate in the Ramadan night because it presented an excellent opportunity to meet the Press, members of the diplomatic and consular corps and the community,” Dawood said.

Among other activities lined up for the evening were “Tanura” and a “Dervish shows”. The tourist brochures and national flags were supplied by the Egyptian Consulate General.

There was a draw at the end of the festivities and the prize was return ticket to Cairo. "Our message is that Egypt is a lovely country that is open to the world. "We invite people from all over the world to visit Egypt and enjoy its art, heritage and culture. On this occasion I would also like to congratulate the UAE Government and its people on their 30th National Day," added Dawood – Albawaba.com
