Marwan Al Sawaleh highlights DQG activities that enhance quality and excellence within local, regional and international businesses
Dubai Quality Group (DQG) in cooperation with the Institute for International Research (IIR) has announced its participation in the 2008 International Quality Summit (IQS), which started today (Monday, June 30, 2008), highlighting its continuous support to local, regional and international businesses. The summit will run up to July 3, 2008, at the JW Marriott Hotel, Dubai, UAE.
During the Summit, Marwan Al Sawaleh, Chairman of DQG discussed the emerging role of DQG in the UAE and Dubai in particular, while focusing on its annual activities that strengthen and spread quality norms and practices among both private and public sector organisations. The Group currently complements the Dubai Strategic Plan 2015 to enhance the emirate’s dynamic economic sectors, through its training programs, conferences, workshops, seminars and initiatives that provide networking and learning opportunities for business members and others to benefit from quality practices.
The Summit has gathered professionals, quality and business excellence leaders, and private and public sector decision makers to discuss strategies, tools, and best practices for leveraging quality to achieve organizational excellence and success.
“The stewards of successful organisations, from small businesses to quality and business excellence certified companies, will be synonymous in referring to quality as the key element of their success. Customer satisfaction has always been the driver for business growth; and just as consistent is the integral role of quality in ensuring satisfaction. Quality defines management, and business process; it pushes organisations towards efficiency, productivity, creativity and responsiveness. More importantly, quality is a strong statement of what customers can expect and get out of an organisation’s products and services; it is a visible, measurable representation of corporate commitment and character,” said Al Sawaleh.
“Gulf businesses are in a prime position to strengthen their international presence; they have extensive experience in growth markets and are excellent models for the adoption of the best quality management practices,” concluded Al Sawaleh
Aside from Al Sawaleh, the event features more than 20 other prominent speakers such as Glenn Robinson, General Manager, Tobermore Concrete Products Ltd.; Eng. Mohammed Saleh Badri, Deputy Director General, Emirates Authority for Standardization and Metrology; Andrew Hurt, Managing Director, Xerox Emirates, and winner of both the 2005 Dubai Quality Award and the 2006 Sheikh Khalifa Excellence Award; Prof. Hadi El Tigani, CEO, Abu Dhabi International Centre for Organisational Excellence; and Christian Muhr, General Manager, Hilton Hotel Jumeirah.
The five-day event combines pre- and post-Summit workshops, case study presentations, keynote addresses, and interactive sessions to provide a superior learning opportunity for participants. Key issues to be explored include the exceptional provision of customer service; product quality; project management; and operational effectiveness.
