Dubai Summer Surprises 2010 Officially Begins

 Dubai Events and Promotions Establishment (DEPE), (formally Dubai Shopping Festival Office), officially launches the 13th edition of Dubai Summer Surprises (DSS) today June 17, 2010 – ushering in 52 days of unbeatable summer celebrations until August 7. With over 150 participating retail outlets this year, DSS is set to reward UAE residents and visitors with unbeatable bargains, daily raffle draws, family entertainment shows, spa discounts and signature events during the Middle East’s biggest summer extravaganza.

The 2009 edition of DSS successfully attracted 2.2 million visitors to Dubai, which resulted in consumer expenditure totaling AED 3.37 billion – an increase of around 5% compared to DSS 2008.

Laila Suhail, DEPE Chief Executive said: “For over a decade, DSS has succeeded in providing the most exciting way to experience summer in the region, with its spectacular mix of shopping, winning, family entertainment and Dubai lifestyle attractions that delight all nationalities and ages. Since its inception in 1998, DSS has entertained more than 17.5 million people with a total of AED 22.5 billion of consumer spending and is considered the biggest summer festival in the region and a globally-recognized spectacle eagerly awaited by families from all over the world.
