Expanded online services attract more users; more upgrades planned for 2010
Dubai, April 19, 2010: Dubai Trade, the innovative online service provider of Dubai World, reaffirmed its role as a frontline trade facilitator by recording over 7.3 million transactions made through its portal www.dubaitrade.ae in 2009. This marked an impressive increase by over 22 per cent compared to the six million transactions recorded in 2008.
The line up of integrated services available on the portal also expanded in 2009. It currently provides a total of 678 online services to the clients of Dubai Trade stakeholders DP World , Economic Zones World, Dubai Customs and Dubai Multi Commodities Centre (DMCC). This is 13% growth over the 600 services offered in 2008, which clearly shows Dubai Trade’s continuing efforts to enrich its portfolio of innovative online services to support trade and logistics in Dubai.
Over 30,000 companies and a total number of 48,500 registered users regularly accessed Dubai Trade’s hugely popular electronic platform last year. The rapidly increasing user traffic on the portal was supported by ROSOOM, Dubai Trade’s innovative e-payment gateway. Since its launch in 2008, ROSOOM has recorded 293,000 transactions with a total online collection of Dh.225 million.
The surge in the number of transactions and registered users is indicative of the wider acceptance of Dubai Trade’s services by the trading community and its increasing keenness to adopt electronic services and refrain from the hassle of physically visiting counters and waiting in queues. .
“The steady increase in the number of users of our services gives us more confidence as we look ahead for a better 2010,” Mahmood Al Bastaki, Director of Dubai Trade, said. “Dubai Trade is now an integral part of the economic activities here. We are proud to be a driving force that helps Dubai and the UAE scale up in global trade. World Bank’s recognition of our efforts on this front inspires us to work harder. We are looking to further expand our online services so as to cover all areas of the trade supply chain and streamline the overall trade flow in Dubai,” Al Bastaki added.
By offering some of the most user friendly and efficient solutions, Dubai Trade has remarkably streamlined business flow and positively impacted cost effectiveness positioning itself as the single window for trade.
In 2009, Dubai Trade has provided free training to more than 2300 companies and attended to more than 250,000 of customer support inquiries.
