APRIL 15, 2010, Dubai, UAE —Dubai Women’s College (DWC) IT Marketing students had a glimpse of “The Purple Cow”, the latest “5th P of the marketing mix” during an interactive session with Mrs. Sherifa A Hady, Channel Manager from HP Imaging and Printing Group, HP English Africa. The DWC Year 2 IT students are currently studying the essentials of marketing this term as part of their curriculum. Mrs. Sherifa joined the class as they were going through the various aspects of “Promotion”, one of the key elements of marketing and shared her own valuable experience and some of the exciting promotions she has done in HP Middle East.
“It is always a great reward to share my experiences with students who are our future generation and demonstrate the beauty of combining IT with Marketing,” said Mrs. Sherifa. “At HP we believe in diversity and look forward to seeing many of these ambitious girls working in the IT industry after they graduate”, she added.
From his part, Dr. Nasser Nassiri, DWC IT Department Chair said that the IT Business awareness imparts a broad perspective to enable graduates to apply information technology knowledge to meet business needs. “Mrs. Sherifa’s talk supported this objective by raising the students’ knowledge of marketing through several creative ideas to market IT products,” he added.
“We continuously strive to bring to our students the latest in marketing innovation and practices through this program of inviting prominent practitioners to share their insight and experience with our students, we plan to have more programs like this in future to benefit the students ” said Anwar Habib, DWC Business Faculty.
Ms. Sherifa Hady, throughout her 10 years at HP has held many roles specifically in sales and marketing in the Middle East region. Up until November 2008, she managed the Consumer Business Unit in the Middle East and had previously been primarily responsible for all marketing and communications operations for the Imaging and Printing Group. “This was a great opportunity for us to see how marketing theories are actually applied in real life, we would like to thank Mrs. Sherifa Hady for sharing her marketing experiences with us and helping us to see the relationship of marketing IT products” said Maryam Yousef Humaid Nasser Al Ali on behalf of her class.
