Dubai Women’s College IT students attend Students Day at CISCO

Around 30 IT students of Dubai Women’s College (DWC) recently attended the Student Day @ CISCO, organized by CISCO Systems at their headquarters in Dubai Internet City. The students were accompanied by IT faculty, Khalid Ansari and Zahoor Butt. Students from Dubai Men’s College and Sharjah Women’s College also attended the event.

Elena Kuznetsova University Relations Manager of CISCO Systems, welcomed the students and during the day presenters gave various presentations on subjects like New Trends in Technology, how CISCO technologies have evolved, how to get the job you want and how other CISCO networking technologies change the way people live, work, play and learn.

One of the best sessions of the day was a demonstration of TelePresence technology in which students interacted with professionals at CISCO Munich, Germany through a lifelike video conference. The students said that it was an amazing and unbelievable technology and they almost felt like people from half way across the world were in the same room.

From his part, Dr. Nasser Nassiri, DWC IT Department Chair said, “This event supported the objective of the Bachelor of Applied Science Network Engineering program by raising the students’ knowledge of the latest trend of CISCO Networking Technology and the way it affects human lives.” Dr. Nasser added that the program has a partnership with CISCO academy in order to bring vendor-specific curriculum to the college classroom.

“The conference was really great, the TelePresence session was amazing, brilliant, and unbelievable technology, I really have enjoyed the day and would like to thank CISCO staff; they were all very friendly,” commented Mona Marzouqi, DWC IT student.

Wayne Hull, General Manager at CISCO Systems, outlined CISCO’s efforts in Emiratization of the private sector in the UAE. Hani Nofal, Regional Sales Manager at CISCO presented CISCO’s evolution throughout the last 25 years and how it has helped in making the Internet what it is today. The day was wrapped up by HR Manager Toneya Sarwar's presentation entitled, Competency Based Interviews which gave excellent information on job hunting.
