Dubai World Chairman Sultan Ahmed Bin Sulayem has congratulated P&O Ferries on its outstanding handling of the current travel crisis in Europe.
P&O Ferries is a subsidiary of Dubai World owned Port and Free Zone World (P&FZ World)
Mr Bin Sulayem visited P&O Ferries’ headquarters in Dover and complimented the team on its excellent performance.
“This is a highly professional team of people who continue to rise to extremely challenging situations with customer service uppermost in their minds. It is this commitment to customer service that has seen P&O Ferries successfully weather the recession, turning in excellent results over the past two years. And it is that same focus on customers that has meant they have responded superbly well to the current crisis, handling thousands more passengers than normal since flights were suspended in the UK. This is an outstanding performance.”
P&O Ferries has carried 21,000 foot passengers so far when normally they would have only 100 a day, and its call centre has been deluged with over 157,000 calls since the crisis began Thursday 15 April. They have increased staff as a result, and recalled staff from leave to help handle the extra volume.
