The great demands from small and medium sized businesses (SMBs) will spur computer sales across the Middle East and Africa in the short-term from 16-17 percent annually, according to a senior industry source quoted by the Gulf News on Wednesday.
The need to get connected for e-commerce-related activities, and to stay competitive, will be the primary factor boosting PC sales to SMBs, Dirk De Waegnerie, vice-president for international sales at Fujitsu-Siemens told the paper.
"Sales to such businesses are booming and will make up for the slower growth recorded by government and corporate purchases, which is growing at about 6-7 percent now. Consumer PC sales are also increasing, but from a larger base compared to SMBs.
"SMB sales currently make up between 15-20 percent of overall PC sales in the region, and this could grow further," he added - Albawaba.com
