e-TQM College announces the winners of its third annual Pan Arab Media Quality Award 2006

e-TQM College, the pioneering e-learning institution specializing in offering Total Quality Management Education, announced yesterday (28, March 2006), the winners of its third annual Pan Arab Media Quality Award 2006, held under the patronage of HE Lt. General Dhahi Khalfan Tamim, President e-TQM College and Commander in Chief, Dubai Police Headquarters.

There were four categories for the award this year. The winners were Kavitha Rajasekhar, Editor at the Computer News Magazine of CPI for Best Research category, Bindu Ganesh of UAE Digest Magazine for Best Feature Story category, Bassel Al Khatib from Arabic News Broadcast TV, Lebanon for Best Interview category, and Hanan Anbar Al Zawadi, from Al Mithaq newspaper, Bahrain for Best Article Category.

The winners received the award at a grand ceremony held at the Emirates Towers Hotel, Dubai, in the presence of leading TQM experts, VIPs and several dignitaries. The Award was sponsored by TECOM Investment as the main sponsors and DTK Computers who presented notebooks to the four winners along with a crystal trophy presented by the president of the College, HE Dhahi Khalfan Tamim.

Announcing the results of the competition, H.E Lieutenant General Dhahi Khalfan Tamim, Commander in Chief of Dubai Police and President of e-TQM College, said: “This year, we received quality entries from media persons from across the Middle East. The entries demonstrated that the media is becoming increasingly aware of the critical importance of the application of TQM concepts in all businesses and all walks of life.”

“We are delighted by the response to the Media Quality Award instituted by e-TQM College,” said Dr. Mansoor Al Awar, Vice president, e-TQM College. “Both the print and broadcast media showed deep insights into TQM and highlighted how the application of these concepts was transforming societies across the Arab world. e-TQM College, is honoured to be a catalyst in taking the concept of TQM to mass audiences through the writings and programmes of media persons. We would like to raise the profile of this award further in the coming years.”

Participants were required to submit in-depth published articles or programmes in four categories, best article, best feature, best interview and best research that focus on TQM-related subjects such as Encouraging Management Concept, Organizational Development, Industry issues in education and healthcare services, Skills, Talent and Nationalization, GATT global optimisation, Performance Governance Issues, Knowledge-Based Economy, e-based issues such as e-Government, e-Commerce and IT and socio-cultural issues related to work. However, no mention of e-TQM College was allowed in these submissions.
The award was instituted to raise awareness of TQM in the Arab world through the media. Entries were judged on insights into TQM in their published or broadcast work. The judging panel comprised of international quality gurus and professors with decades of experience in the teaching and practice of quality management.
e-TQM College is a Dubai-based institution that has pioneered e-learning in the Middle East by launching world-class online courses in Total Quality Management. Launched in September 2002, the college is the first of its kind in the world. It has been recognized by EFQM, a leading European body for quality management, and has been accepted as a key member of the British Quality Foundation. It aims to be the college of choice for Total Quality Management in the Arab world.
e-TQM College provides e-learning programs to private and public sector employees as well as members of the public. Courses include Foundation Diploma in TQM, Excellence Best Practice Series and Certificate in Quality in Policing.
