Several people were injured, two of them seriously, and over 20 villages badly damaged when an earthquake measuring 5.0 on the Richter scale rocked southern Iran's Fars province, IRNA said Sunday.
The tremor was registered at 3:21 p.m. (local time) Saturday by Tehran University's geophysics center, with the epicenter located in Noorabad.
Around 650 houses were destroyed in 22 villages, and rescue teams were sent to the area with food and tents. The quake was followed by a milder tremor measuring 3.5 degrees in the same area Sunday. (Albawaba.com)
