The leading East African tour operator, Muthaiga Travel Limited, has decided to promote Dubai travel packages, according to Dubai’s Department of Tourism and Commerce Marketing.

The DTCM hailed the decision by the African tour operator, which came in Dubai during an official visit by the company's board of directors.

“East Africa is a fast-growing source of visitors for Dubai,” DTCM director general Khalid bin Sulayem said in an official statement, noting that there were currently 74 tour operators offering Dubai packages.

“Last year, Dubai’s hotel establishments recorded a 22 percent growth in guests from East Africa, and with both Emirates Airlines and Kenya Airways offering seven weekly flights linking the emirate with Nairobi, we are bound to increase our market share,” bin Sulayem added.

The managing director of Muthaiga, Klarissa Wills, commented on her first visit to Dubai by saying “I am so impressed by the beautiful emirate that we will be only too keen to promote it in East Africa. This destination is safe, clean and beautiful and the standards of service are excellent.”

The East African announcement came only one day after the Russian Travel Trade organization expressed "keen interest" in doing business with Dubai, following its successful participation in the recently concluded 7th International Trade Fair for Tourism in Moscow - Leisure 2001 – Albawaba.com
