Food aficionados across Dubai will now be able to treat themselves to a truly unique meal prepared by the critically-acclaimed Executive Chef Juraj Kalna at The Edge Dining and Lounge. The restaurant, located at the Dubai International Financial Centre (DIFC) is open for reservations. .

Chef Kalna, who the New York Times has described as a “genius”, serves a daily gastronomic fare that has been ranked as Dubai’s finest dining experience.

Abdulla Bin Sougat, CEO of the DIFC Lifestyle Group said: “The Edge represents the spirit of the lifestyle offerings at the Dubai International Financial Centre – high quality and distinctive experiences. The restaurant’s culinary delights considerably enrich the varied fine dining offerings within the financial district. Over the last year, with more than 25 specialty restaurants, DIFC has emerged as one of Dubai’s most sought-after destinations for fine dining.”

Instead of having a regular menu, The Edge creates customised menus for each individual guest on arrival. The restaurant’s offerings change every day depending on what is freshly available in the market. Guests can choose from either six or eight courses or the chef’s special menu.

Shamsa Al Bloushi, CEO, The Edge, says: “We are committed to offering exceptional dining experiences characterised by high quality and outstanding service. The Edge is the only restaurant in Dubai that operates a 'no menu' policy. Every day, our Executive Chef Juraj Kalna creates a special menu for each guest.”

Backed by an 18-strong culinary team, Executive Chef Kalna is committed to the highest standards. A distinctive feature of The Edge’s offerings is the impeccable service, which has been described as 'being accustomed to royalty.' The restaurant’s classy décor, soft brown furnishing, and elegant tables embellished with red roses, create a beautiful ambience for enjoying Kalna’s innovative gourmet creations.

The international profile of The Edge, as well as the UAE’s culinary scene, rose recently when chef Kalna became the official representative for Africa and the Middle East at the Continental Semi-Finals of the World Association of Chefs Society (WACS) Global Chefs Challenge in Johannesburg.

Kalna will join six other international chefs competing in the Global Chef Challenge final to create a four course meal, to serve 12 people, with ingredients that will be decided slightly ahead of time. Chefs must meet the ingredient guidelines exactly and will be under strict time constraints for the completion of each course. With his incredible talent and his vast experience in creating outstanding dishes, he is one of the favourites for the prestigious world title.

Kalna said, “Creating unique and high-quality food has always been my passion. I wish to give guests at The Edge the best culinary experiences they have ever had. The people at The Edge share my enthusiasm for providing the most exceptional cuisine supplemented by the most exceptional service and the most exceptional ambience. Competing on behalf of the Africa and Middle East at the Global Chef Challenge final is an honour. I have already begun preparations to ensure that I bring home the title of World's Best Chef.”

Al Bloushi says: “His outstanding capabilities and creativity will no doubt give him an advantage when it comes to the final of the Global Chefs Challenge.”
