Edutech builds eLearning Centre for Hashemite University
First-of-its-kind project in the region aims at reaching more students via the Internet
Edutech Middle East, a leading provider of technology-enabled learning solutions, has recently announced that it has successfully established the first eLearning Centre in Jordan for the Hashemite University (HU). The move, which follows last year’s signed agreement between Edutech and the University to become exclusive ‘Knowledge Partners’, seeks to reach more students by providing quality education through a widespread network that is accessible via the Internet. Through a combination of state-of-the-art technologies and academic expertise, Edutech and HU have simulated a classroom atmosphere though a digitized, internet-enabled eLearning module equipped with visual and descriptive educational content.
The exclusive partnership entails the setting up of an Integrated Learning Management System (Blackboard), Content Capture System (Tegrity), Synchronous Collaboration Tool (Elluminate), Content Development Tool (Lectora), online Testing and Assessment Tool (QuestionMark Perception) and a customized web-based registration system in the Computer Centre. In addition, Edutech has provided consultancy and content development services, and equipped new language labs with the Robotel Smartclass Solution and Clarity software. Moreover, students who need to undergo additional courses in fulfillment of compulsory University requirements for graduation are also expected to benefit from the Centre.
Dr. Abdelrahim Hunaiti, President, Hashemite University, said, “The newest development in the systems implemented at the Hashemite University through the eLearning Centre reflects our deep resolve to reach more young individuals and provide them with the best quality education through means that are most interesting and easily accessible to them. Utilising Edutech’s technologies personifies our belief that we have entered an era where traditional education should be combined with technologically advanced means to cross geographical boundaries and benefit a larger student base. We are proud to be the home of the first eLearning Centre in the region, and we commend Edutech for providing cutting edge solutions that entail convenience for both student and teacher, thereby aiding us engage them in a stimulating learning experience.”
The eLearning Centre is an Internet-backed educational tool, which has been the result of the conversion of live classroom sessions currently conducted at HU into eLearning content. Edutech and professors at HU have reduced these live lessons into digital format and blended the same synchronous learning session with the necessary visual and descriptive educational content. Edutech and the HU eLearning Center have also set up a helpdesk support, which will enable the individual distant learner to have thorough insight and learning. In addition to providing academic expertise and experience in the process, the University has also promoted the Edutech-implemented eLearning concept within other academic institutions in Jordan and other countries.
“The successful implementation of Hashemite University’s eLearning Centre is a testament to Edutech’s expertise and understanding of the technology-enhanced learning tools industry and in-depth know-how on the specific needs of the region. By enabling us to create and offer performance driven learning solutions for their students, HU has established their willingness to embrace the future of education systems. The eLearning Centre in HU is a fine example of a successful implementation of valuable technologies, which we are expecting other universities and colleges in the region to replicate. As we continuously work side by side with HU, we aim to contribute significantly to their initiatives in advancing their organizational goals and objectives,” said ASF Karim, CEO, Edutech.
