Edutech introduces first-of-its-kind hybrid learning solution in engineering education

Company launches ‘TechMentor’ solutions to aid students prepare for careers in engineering

Edutech Middle East, a leading provider of technology-enabled information and learning solutions, has unveiled a first-of-its-kind ‘hybrid learning’ solution in engineering education, at the ‘Gulf Educational Supplies and Solutions (GESS) 2009’, which opened today (March 10, 2009) at the Dubai Airport Expo Centre. The ‘TechMentor’ solution consisting of eLearning of concepts, processes and procedures, when combined with practical hands-on work using actual hardware and equipment in the laboratory, helps prepare students adequately for careers in technologically advanced mechatronics and industrial environments.

Designed as a comprehensive eLearning system, ‘TechMentor’ combines new technologies with solid instructional design principles to engage learners, encourage participation and increase retention of knowledge. The solution combines extensive content pertaining to electrical, electronics, manufacturing, robotics and environmental engineering, among others. It also blends live and self-paced eLearning, content modules and development tools to provide the optimum solution for educational institutions’ academic needs.

“The launch of ‘TechMentor’ exemplifies our keen interest in the development of the region’s engineering education, as we believe that its long term success is highly dependent on the training we provide for the future generation of engineering professionals,” said ASF Karim, CEO, Edutech Middle East. “We are confident that our participation at ‘GESS 2009’ will result in strong consumer awareness for this turnkey solution, and motivate many educational and technical institutions to provide more effective, technologically-advanced training to students.”

In addition to ‘TechMentor’, Edutech is also showcasing other cutting-edge solutions during the show, including ‘SPARK Science Learning System’, an all-in-one mobile device that supports discovery-based science learning environments from PASCO. Aside from highlighting the best technology-driven solutions designed for the academic sector, the event will also host seminars and workshops, which will be conducted by some of the leading global innovators in Learning systems with whom Edutech has nurtured fruitful partnerships. Furthermore, trade visitors can also get a glimpse of the future of today’s academic environment through a modern classroom model being featured within Edutech’s stand.

“As a pioneer in providing technology based training systems, which have proven their effectiveness in live, eLearning and hybrid learning environments, we are always leveraging our unprecedented access to the latest industrial and educational technologies to bring the best of both worlds to students of engineering, manufacturing and industrial technology. However, our strategy is not defined merely by coming up with breakthrough learning solutions - we are also highly focused on bringing our products closer to more potential users. Our participation at ‘GESS 2009’ underlines our commitment to expanding our reach in the Middle East region, and seeing the outstanding reception our learning solutions have generated at the event, we are positive that this market will be highly receptive of our technology-driven offerings,” concluded Karim.
