A gas pipeline that services an industrial area in the restive peninsula was blown up on Tuesday. Security officials suspect Egyptian militants are behind the explosion that happened in Sinai. Officials reported zero injuries in the blast.
During the overthrow of Mubarak, militants forced a halt to a gas supplies to Israel and Jordan by targeting a pipeline through Sinai in 2011.
More recently, attacks have escalated on soldiers and policemen following the military's overthrow of Islamist president Morsi in July.
The group spearheading the attacks, Ansar Beit al-Maqdis, is Al-Qaeda inspired group that has claimed bombings targeting police throughout Egypt.
