As part of Egypt’s contribution to the United Nations’ peace keeping efforts, a special course for training UN Peacekeepers will take place in Egypt during January. The course was organized by the Cairo Center for Training on Conflict Resolution and Peacekeeping in Africa (CCPA).

The course, “Training the Trainers”, is being conducted with the cooperation of the School of the United Nations' Peacekeeping Operations in Amersfoort, Netherlands.

The CCPA is part of the Institute for Diplomatic Studies of the Egyptian government. The center organizes training courses designed mainly for African diplomats, military and police officers as part of the UN peacekeeping effort on the continent. The CCCPA works in coordination and cooperation with the OAU Mechanism for Conflict Prevention, Management and Resolution and with African and international centers of similar activities.

The CCPA was established in 1995, as a result of the 1993 conference of African heads of state, which sought to establish an African mechanism for conflict management and resolution. Courses are taught in both French and English. (www.albawaba.com
