ALBAWABA- Efforts to enforce the Gaza ceasefire agreement are making progress, with Hamas confirming its commitment to the deal, including the scheduled prisoner exchange.
The group stated that it has held talks with mediators to ensure implementation, particularly in light of alleged Israeli violations.
A Hamas delegation met with Egypt’s intelligence chief in Cairo and held phone discussions with the Qatari Prime Minister, focusing on critical issues such as securing urgent housing and facilitating the entry of mobile homes for displaced Palestinians.
Mediators reaffirmed the parties' commitment to upholding all terms of the agreement, including humanitarian provisions. Today, trucks loaded with mobile housing units and rubble removal equipment were seen waiting to enter Gaza via the Rafah crossing.
Israel has also signaled its adherence to the deal, with Channel 12 citing official sources confirming its commitment following indications of Hamas' compliance.
Meanwhile, Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu convened a security meeting at the Southern Command to assess the situation.
However, Hamas has previously announced a temporary halt to the release of Israeli prisoners scheduled for Saturday, citing Israeli violations of the ceasefire terms, particularly regarding the humanitarian annex.
In response, U.S. President Donald Trump issued a strong warning, threatening severe consequences if the prisoners are not released. Netanyahu echoed this stance, warning of a possible return to military action, raising concerns over the ceasefire’s stability.
While mediators remain hopeful about sustaining the first phase of the agreement, uncertainty looms over the second phase due to Israel’s reluctance.
