Egyptian exports to Germany increased by 14 percent between January and October 2000, compared to the same period of 1999, according to the weekly Middle East Times.
The figures were released by the Egyptian trade representation office in Germany, said the weekly.
There was also a considerable increase in Egyptian exports to several European and African countries.
"Egypt's Berlin Trade Office succeeded in marketing new commodities, such as coal and ships, that were not available in 1999," said Hamdi Metwalli, Chairman of the trade representation department.
He added that Egypt's Oslo office said that Egyptian exports to different parts of the world rose by 11 percent in 2000, compared to 1999.
For instance, Egyptian exports to Nigeria rose to 5.4 million dollars in the first eight months of 2000, compared to 4.4 million dollars for the same period in 1999 – Albawaba.com
