Ramallah News reports that the Egyptian military killed 11 Sinai militants in ongoing operations since Tuesday.

An anonymous source told Ramallah news that the Egyptian army killed seven militants south of Sheikh Zuweid, and four others in Rafah.

The source noted that the operations against militant groups in Sinai are continuing.

Sinai militants launched a series of attacks on Egyptian soliders earlier in the month. Three Egyptian soldiers were killed and five others wounded in militant attacks near Shiekh Zuweid and Rafah in May. A suicide car bombing killed three at a checkpoint in Al-Arish, also in Sinai.

Attacks on Egyptian soldiers and checkpoints in Sinai have increased in recent months. The Egyptian army has responded by increasing security checkpoints, and raids in the Sinai region.

The Daesh-affiliated Sinai Province, formerly Ansar Bait al-Maqdis, claims responsibility for many of the recent attacks.
