Egypt’s Minister of Water Resources and Irrigation Mahmoud Abu Zaid said Monday that floods at the High Dam and Toshka posed no threat.
According to the minister, Nasser’s Lake and overflow channels at the dam and Toshka were sufficient to cope with any additional water from the swelling Nile.
The Nile continued rising on Monday to reach 177.65 meters, an increase of 13 cm over its level on Sunday. The volume of water contained in the High Dam’s reservoir swelled to 135.540 billion cubic meters as a result.
Some 350 million cubic meters of water have been siphoned off from the High Dam reservoir in response to decisions by its oversight committee – Albawaba.com
