Egypt’s Prime Minister Atef Ebeid left is due in Tunis Friday to convey an Egyptian message for Tunisian President Zine al-Abidine Ben Ali concerning bilateral relations and the Arab economic summit in Cairo in November, according to Al Ahram Arabic daily and agencies.
Ebeid will chair a bilateral commission with his Tunisian counterpart Mohammed Ghannouchi and will give Ben Ali a message from Egyptian President Hosni Mubarak "about the Arab economic summit."
Upon arrival to Tunis Airport, Ebeid told reporters that the ninth meeting of the Egyptian-Tunisian High Committee is of a special importance, as they come after successful achievements during the previous meetings, which rounded up in signing 57 agreements.
The joint commission explore new ways of cooperation, he added.
Ebeid earlier this month traveled to Saudi Arabia, Kuwait and the United Arab Emirates to discuss preparations for the summit.
In 1998, Tunisia and Egypt signed a free-trade deal calling for gradually liberalizing trade until 2007. The two countries aim to increase annual trade volume to 300 million dollars from 102 million dollars in 2000, according to AFP – Albawaba.com
