The Egyptian Press Association is organizing a writers’ strike on May 15 to support the Palestinians on the 53rd anniversary of the loss of their homeland, according to an association statement.

At a press conference held under a huge black flag at the association’s entrance, the journalists called on their colleagues to join them in a sit-in on the anniversary of the Palestinian catastrophe, known as the Nakba.

They said the event would feature a display of photos and cartoons condemning Zionism.

Association member Salah Abdel Maqsoud read the statement, a copy of which was received by Albawaba. The statement calls on the Arab World to increase its support for the Palestinians, and urges association members to strike on Tuesday.

The Egyptian journalists burned the American and Israeli flags and shouted slogans against Zionism, calling for the imposition of continuous pressure on Arab leaders to take real action against the growing Israeli aggression - Albawaba.com
