Indian security forces Saturday shot dead 11 separatist Muslim militants in Indian-administered Kashmir, police said.

Five militants were killed at the Razdan pass along the Line of Control (LoC) - the de facto border that divides Kashmir between India and Pakistan - in the northern Kashmir district of Baramulla, a police spokesman said.

"The encounter erupted after militants infiltrated into our side from across the LoC," the spokesman said.

Three more militants were shot dead at Maldori village in the same district after a cordon and search operation.

Two others were killed by security forces at Kangan, 40 kilometers north of Srinagar, Kashmir's summer capital.

Another militant was shot dead during an encounter at Zachaldar village in the northern Kupwara district, which borders Pakistan-administered Kashmir, police said.
