EMC Highlights Egypt’s Need for Next Generation Data Backup Solutions at Executive Seminar
Decision-makers from financial services, telecoms, government and other key sectors learn more about meeting the challenges of information growth
The Middle East operations of EMC Corporation (NYSE:EMC), the world leader in information infrastructure solutions, has outlined for executives in Egypt how to meet the challenges of information growth in their organizations through next generation data backup and recovery solutions.
At an Executive Seminar in Cairo last week, decision-makers from industries such as telecommunications, financial services and government, learned how to scale their systems upward as information grows, protect key corporate information, and optimize the backup and recovery process with EMC’s integrated software and hardware solutions.
“Analysis has shown that every gigabyte of growth in a company’s information production environment results in a 250- to 800-percent increase in their backup environment, and we’re finding that even the most technologically advanced customers in Egypt are finding it a challenge to keep pace with this growth by backing it up in case there is a system failure,” said Mohamed Abou El-Leil, EMC District Manager - Egypt & North Africa.
“EMC’s Executive Seminar showed these companies how to prepare for exponential data growth—and how to meet the demands of their internal users and external customers—with the latest strategies and solutions available in the market today,” he continued.
EMC executives acknowledged the issues that customers in Egypt and around the region, are facing due to information growth. “Backup has been a long-term challenge for our clients in Egypt and elsewhere in the Middle East – it is one issue we hear about consistently, regardless of customer size, industry or budget. It is even more challenging for them in the face of up to 60% annual information growth, which is what we are seeing in this market and regionally. The amount of information customers have to regularly back up can be up to five times that when they factor in duplicate copies of emails and other documents,” Abuo El-Leil added.
To enable customers to address these challenges, EMC’s event in Cairo highlighted its offering of the broadest portfolio of backup and recovery technology in the industry, including the world's largest single system virtual tape library (VTL); the latest versions of EMC’s industry-leading data de-duplication, replication and backup software; and new bare metal recovery capabilities.
