Sheikh Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa, King of Bahrain, sent a cable of good wishes Thursday to the Emir of Kuwait Sheikh Jaber Al Ahmed Al Sabah, congratulating him on the successful eye surgery he underwent earlier, said the official Bahrain News Agency (BNA).

Sheikh Hamad "wished the Emir of Kuwait every good health to continue the path of prosperity" in his country, BNA reported.

Earlier, the Kuwaiti Emiri Diwan said in a statement, which was carried by the official Kuwait News Agency that Sheikh Jaber "had undergone a successful eye surgery Thursday morning," adding that the Emir "has checked out of hospital and is in good condition."

The Deputy King of Bahrain, Crown Prince Sheikh Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa and the Prime Minister Sheikh Khalifa bin Salman Al Khalifa have sent similar cables of good wishes to Sheikh Jaber, BNA added.

"The Emiri Diwan is pleased to inform citizens that this morning, His Highness the Emir successfully underwent an operation where white water was removed from his eye," said a statement issued by the Emiri Palace.

Sheikh Jaber left the hospital immediately following his surgery, according to the statement and is "in good health".

The 73-year-old Emir, who has ruled Kuwait for 24 years, returned to Kuwait in January after some four months of treatment and recuperation in Britain for a brain hemorrhage. He spent two months in London's Cromwell Hospital undergoing treatment and physiotherapy. (Albawaba.com)
