Emirates Building Systems (EBS), a subsidiary of Dubai Investments Industries, has announced the signing of a joint venture agreement with China Jingye Construction Engineering Contract Company (CJYC) for the construction of high rise buildings, stadiums and aircraft hangars in the Middle East and North Africa region.
“This joint venture agreement marks the beginning of a mutually beneficial relationship which will result in the construction of several world class structures across the region,” said Shukri Al Muhairi, General Manager, Dubai Investments Industries, one of Dubai Investments’ subsidiaries. “The combined expertise of EBS and CJYC will translate to high quality projects and set new benchmarks in construction of high rise buildings and other mega structures. This partnership will also open new opportunities for us in the Middle East and African markets.”
Samir Akra, General Manager, Emirates Building Systems, said, “As per the terms of the contract, EBS will design and fabricate all components required for the construction of high rise buildings, stadiums and aircraft hangars, whereas CJYC will supply manpower, know-how and required tools and supplies to construct the components in accordance with the requirements of EBS.”
EBS and CJYC will work together throughout the contractual period of three years, and will cover United Arab Emirates, Sultanate of Oman, Kuwait, Saudi Arabia, Qatar, Bahrain, Iraq, Jordan, Syria, Lebanon, Turkey, Egypt, Libya, Morocco, Sudan, Iran, Yemen, Tunisia and Algeria.

The first project that the joint venture will cooperate on is the “Kuwait World Trade Center”, a prestigious 48-storey tower located on Sour street, Kuwait city. This tower will have a built up area of 23,400 square meters and will be 218 meters in height. Owned by “The Commercial Real Estate Company”, tower will feature some of the most innovative architecture in the region.
EBS is a pioneer in the region in the field of high rise construction. They have completed the “The Tower” directly adjacent to the Emirates Towers on Sheikh Zayed road in Dubai in 2001. This tower is 253m high and has 50 stories of commercial, office and residential space. In Bahrain, EBS has designed supplied and erected “Al Moyyed Tower” the highest building in the Kingdom of Bahrain comprising a 47-storey building, rising 173 meters and covering a built up area of 44,000 square meters. Another building currently being executed in Bahrain is the “Trust Insurance Tower”. This building is 84-meter high with 23 floors and two basements and a total built up area 16,800 square meters.
China Jingye Construction Engineering Contract Company is a leading construction company in China with expertise in erection of high rise buildings, stadiums, and aircraft hangars across China and the Far East. CJYC owns a big steel testing and research facility in Beijing and is owned by the giant investment, raw material and construction conglomerate MCC.
