Emirates NBD, the largest banking group in the Middle East in terms of assets, announced today the launch of a book donation campaign to support schools in Abu Dhabi and Al Ain. Titled, “Donate a book, Enlighten the future,” the new Corporate Social Responsibility initiative meets the dual objective of creating a learning environment through promoting reading among youth, while at the same time encouraging people to share the books they have already read.
“Reading is an essential aspect of education and enables young people to develop their minds and acquire a wider perspective on life,” said Abdulelah AlKindy, Head of Retail Banking Abu Dhabi Region at Emirates NBD. “As future leaders of the UAE, it is important for the new generation to acquire comprehensive knowledge about a variety of subjects through extensive reading.”
“Emirates NBD is fully supportive of all initiatives that facilitate the development of a new generation of leaders. The bank aims to enlighten young people’s futures and encourage their holistic development through the book donation campaign, which will be rolled out across all bank branches in Abu Dhabi and Al Ain,” he added. “We are also promoting the idea of donating books in order to encourage the concept of sharing books that people have already read and creating a community of booklovers.”
Residents and Emirates NBD clients are invited to donate used books, which will be collected at all Emirates NBD branches in Abu Dhabi and Al Ain, before being distributed across various schools. The book collection boxes will be stationed at the bank’s branches over the next three months, following which there will be a road show to promote the initiative across other emirates.
