Emirates, one of the world’s fastest growing airlines, has brought together its commercial and cargo sales teams from across the network of more than 80 destinations to share its vision for the future.
The three-day conference at Dubai’s Madinat Jumeirah Arena, is challenging the front-line workforce with its theme “Raising the Game”, as the airline crosses the 100 aircraft milestone, marking its transition from a medium to a large carrier.
In his opening address on Friday 26th May to over 700 delegates, His Highness Sheikh Ahmed bin Saeed Al-Maktoum, Chairman & Chief Executive, Emirates Airline & Group, said: “There are two main reasons for the success of the Emirates Group – the first is the fortunate location of Dubai, the “city of the future” and our home base and, of course, the second is you, with your hard work and passion.
“We are often asked why we are so successful. Well, one of the key reasons is that we are efficient. Productivity year-on-year improved by 18 per cent. As we grow bigger and bigger we have a number of challenges to maintain the advantages which have already made us successful.
“We must continue to be able to respond to the changing economic and social conditions around the world and, of course, we must continuously raise our game to maintain the Emirates quality and standards for the customer.”
Emirates is expected to take delivery of the first of 45 super-jumbo Airbus A380-800 aircraft in April 2007 and later on in that year start operations from its exclusive terminal and concourse at Dubai International Airport.
The conference continued on Saturday with an address by Tim Clark, President Emirates Airline, who spoke about new products, future plans and developments of the airline and its hub at Dubai International Airport.
Ghaith Al Ghaith, Executive Vice President Commercial Operations Worldwide, outlined the challenges facing the commercial teams, as the airline goes to the next level of development, and the commitment by the airline’s management to help them rise to the challenge.
Also addressing the conference were Nigel Hopkins, Executive Vice President Service Departments; Terry Daly, Divisional Senior Vice President Service Delivery; and Hans Haensel, Divisional Senior Vice President Destination & Leisure Management.
