Emirates Trophy goes to Ventura on Belmont Stakes Day
Ventura, the mount of Garrett Gomez, was a three quarter of a length winner of the Emirates-sponsored US$400,000 Just a Game Stakes (Gr.I), at Belmont Park, New York, on Belmont Stakes Day on Saturday.
Later in the afternoon, all eyes were on Big Brown in the Belmont Stakes (Gr.I) as the three-year-old attempted to become the first horse in 30 years to win the Triple Crown; however it was not to be, with jockey Kent Desormeaux easing the colt in the straight with victory going to the Alan Garcia-partnered Da’ Tara.
