UAE's Eissa bin Hindi qualified for the second round of the World Under-21 Snooker Championship being held in Bangalore, India, reported the Gulf News daily.
Bin Hindi was the only Arab player to qualify for the second round and gain his first point in the international ranking, said the daily.
The Emirati player defeated Oliver Auns of Latvia 4-2 to complete his matches in round one with four wins and three defeats. He finished fourth in Group A.
Four players from each group qualify for the second round. The second UAE player in tournament Ahmed Al Khalifa suffered his sixth successive defeat in Group D when he went down to Northern Ireland's Seaon O'Neill.
Masood Aqil, the UAE team manager, praised Bin Hindi's effort, saying "Issa put up some great performances in his last three games, where he had no choice but to win them all. He didn't let us down and deserved to qualify for the second round - Albawaba.com
