Epson has announced the Middle East launch of the EMP-400W, an ultra-short throwing distance, compact and light-weight projector, which is ideal for corporate presentations, especially within small meeting areas. The projector is able to deliver a clear and sharp focussed 60 inch picture at just 65cm from the projection surface, eliminating the shadow effects that can be caused by presenters standing between the projection unit and the screen.
 
Given its short-throwing distance the EMP-400W shares many of the advantages of flat-panel screens, whilst also providing the inherent cost and versatility benefits of a projector unit. Its light-weight design means the projector is easy to move around and install, unlike the large flat panel. Furthermore, the EMP-400W is much more versatile and can display an image from 50 to up to 110 inch.
 
The EMP-400W also features an Epson exclusive Twin Optimised Reflecting Lamp (E-TORL), which ensures optimum energy efficiency, providing cost savings and environmental benefits when compared with the largest flat panel screen. E-TORL technology also ensures the Epson EMP-400W delivers exceptionally bright and sharp images by effectively eliminating light leakage and minimising light diffraction. Additionally the EMP-400W requires no cool down time and incorporates Direct Power On and Off functions that allow users to switch the device off at the wall after use.
 
If used from a fixed ceiling mounted position, the EMP-400W offers a number of advantages over and above typical projectors for business users. The network attached feature of the projector enables IT support staff to monitor and control the projector simply by entering the projector’s IP address into a web browser. This saves time on management and enhances preventative maintenance. Tasks such as cleaning air filters and replacing lamps can be performed before any downtime is incurred thanks to over-network, e-mail projector status updates. Thanks to its lens-side air filter and downward facing lamp change facility, the EMP-400W can be maintained easily without the need to remove it from its overhead mount, saving both time and money.
 
The EMP-400W is a native WXGA resolution model at 1280 x 800 resolution, following the widescreen trend in laptop and desktop PCs. This is ideal for displaying wide spreadsheets or any wide format presentation. Ease of use and flexibility are enhanced with automatic 4:3, 16:10 and 16:9 aspect ratio detection for compatibility with any device. The projector also includes a powerful, in-built 10W speaker meaning DVDs and multimedia presentations can be played to audiences without external speakers.
